Osteoporosis is not a condition that anyone wants to be afflicted by when they get on in years. Conventional medicine has touted many theories on how women can protect themselves from bone loss, but a recent study has shed light on a new path women can take to protect their bones. It seems that sticking to an anti-inflammatory diet may just be the ticket to keeping your bones healthy.

A team of researchers has analyzed data from the Women’s Health Initiative Observational Study and Clinical Trials and were able to compare the presence of inflammatory elements in women’s diets to their bone mineral density and fracture incidence. Their findings have indicated some new associations between diet and bone health for women. [RELATED: Keep up with the latest health headlines for women at WomensHealth.news]

Research shows anti-inflammatory diet preserves bone mass

The study, led by Tonya Orchard Ph.D., M.S., R.D. and an assistant professor at Ohio State University, was published by Journal of Bone and Mineral Research towards the end of December 2016. To assess the inflammatory quality of women’s diets, the researchers used a scoring system called the Dietary Inflammatory Index. The diets and bone densities of over 160,000 women were looked at.

Based on their observations, the team found that women who had the least inflammatory diets also experienced the smallest loss of bone density during the six-year follow-up period — even in spite of the fact that they started off with lower bone density overall. The researchers posited that the lower bone density could possibly be attributed to their generally smaller builds.

The team also found that in one sub-group (Caucasian, post-menopausal women over the age of 63), a less inflammatory diet was also associated with a decreased risk of hip fracture. Conversely, younger white women with more inflammatory diets were considered to be at the highest risk of bone fracture. In fact, they had a hip fracture risk that was twice that of those who ate a less inflammatory diet.

While the team did find that women who consumed a diet that was more inflammatory had a lower risk of arm fractures, the researchers noted that this was likely because low-inflammatory food consumers were more likely to be active — and consequently, have a greater risk of falling in general. This particular finding does not actually indicate that being inactive is somehow better for you, however.

Orchard says that their research indicates that following a less-inflammatory diet that is rich in healthy fats, plants and whole grains in older years could be beneficial to women looking to preserve their bone health. However, due to the observational nature of this study, it is not possible to directly link dietary patterns to bone health and fracture outcomes. Previous research has shown that bone mineral density and content is affected by dietary habits. A 2011 study out of Australia found that energy dense but nutrient poor diets that centered on take-out, fried potatoes, processed meats, soft drinks and other items were related to lower bone mineral content, while diets that were rich in plant foods, whole grains, seeds, nuts and legumes correlated with a higher bone mineral content.

Bone health is important

It comes as no surprise that what you put into your body can affect your bone mass; bones are part of the body, after all. Many people forget that bones are not a static structure but are rather continually regenerating and degenerating organs — just like every other body part.

Bones are comprised of a variety of minerals and other materials, like collagen. The idea that calcium is the sole nutrient required for healthy bones is a common misconception — that is why eating a nutrient-rich diet is so essential to bone health (and every other facet of the human body, really).

There are many factors that play into bone health, but diet and exercise are two keys to help keeping your bones at their best.

Proposed North Dakota law would legalize raw milk and end “milk prohibition” /nutrientsnews/2017-02-01-north-dakota-bill-legalize-raw-milk.html /nutrientsnews/2017-02-01-north-dakota-bill-legalize-raw-milk.html#respond Wed, 30 Nov -0001 00:00:00 +0000 http://162.244.66.231/nutrientsnews/2017-02-01-north-dakota-bill-legalize-raw-milk Members of the North Dakota legislature have introduced a bill that would allow for the direct sale of raw milk and raw milk products from producer to consumer. If passed, the new law would deal a blow to federal hegemony over the states. The Tenth Amendment Center educates citizens on states’ rights that have been eroded and usurped by the malefactors in Washington. For those who need a reminder, the tenth amendment of the US Constitution reads: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

The Tenth Amendment Center website describes nullification as “any act or set of acts, which has as its end result, a particular federal law being rendered null and void, or just plain unenforceable in your area. Nullification often begins with members of your state legislature declaring a federal act unconstitutional and then committing to resist its implementation. It usually involves a bill, passed by both houses and signed by your governor.” Our Founding Fathers Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson formulated the concept of nullification to combat federal encroachment on state rights in their day, and state citizens today would do well to follow their lead. An encouraging contemporary example of nullification is the legalization of Cannabis in an ever growing number of states. (RELATED: See more constitutional topics at Liberty.news)

In 1987 a federal law banned interstate sale of raw milk and raw milk products: “no person shall cause to be delivered into interstate commerce or shall sell, otherwise distribute, or hold for sale or other distribution after shipment in interstate commerce any milk or milk product in final package form for direct human consumption unless the product has been pasteurized.” But in a clear violation of their authority the FDA has banned raw milk sales within states. Economically, the ban hurts small farmers the most, while protecting the interests of the largest corporate producers. And the FDA has in the past and will again in the future conduct armed raids on sellers of raw milk (we all know how violent the Amish can be). If enough states pass laws that nullify the federal raw milk ban, enforcement of intrastate prohibition becomes too cumbersome for the feds and freedom of choice will rule the day.

Raw milk is a healthy alternative to conventional dairy products

With respect to health, it is the consumer who pays the price for eating standard dairy products. From the Weston A. Price Foundation’s website Real Milk, we learn that conventionally produced milk is an unwholesome food. First, homogenization prevents cream from separating from the milk and rising to the top, by breaking the fat globules into minuscule particles that make the milk fat harder to digest. Second, pasteurization is flash heating of milk to kill germs. The problem is that bacteria and enzymes present in the raw state that aid digestion and the immune system are destroyed by cooking the milk. Also the protein in milk is denatured by pasteurization and causes an immune response. Third, hormones, pesticides, and pus are commonly found in conventional milk. Fourth, typical cows are fed grains, while their natural diet consists of grasses, and grass-fed cows are healthier and produce milk with a higher content of vitamins and minerals. Fifth, many people who are lactose intolerant find that raw milk is well tolerated. Sixth, asthma and allergy sufferers find that raw milk relieves their symptoms.

Raw dairy has been maligned by the mainstream media and the medical establishment, despite being consumed in its whole, natural state for millennia. We are warned that it is not safe, but Real Milk counsels that when a dairy farm operates with sanitary conditions, harmful pathogens are not present in the milk, despite conventional wisdom: “Health officials are highly biased against raw milk and published reports reflect that bias. Very often raw milk is blamed for an outbreak of illness without proof, or even for an outbreak that affected many people who did not consume raw milk.” Raw milk is real milk, and raw milk should not be a crime. The thugs at the FDA are the problem, not raw milk.

FDA quietly bans powerful life-saving intravenous Vitamin C /nutrientsnews/2017-02-01-fda-quietly-bans-powerful-life-saving-iv-bags-with-vitamin-c.html /nutrientsnews/2017-02-01-fda-quietly-bans-powerful-life-saving-iv-bags-with-vitamin-c.html#respond Wed, 30 Nov -0001 00:00:00 +0000 http://162.244.66.231/nutrientsnews/2017-02-01-fda-quietly-bans-powerful-life-saving-iv-bags-with-vitamin-c It would be naive to think that the FDA endeavors to protect the public’s health as its primary focus. Indeed, that would be a conflict of interest, as it serves its master, the pharmaceutical industry. Has the Food and Drug Administration engineered a shortage of intravenous vitamin C as part of an overall attack on natural and non-toxic approaches to healing that compete with prescription drugs? An analysis by Natural Blaze would suggest that the answer is yes.

Natural Blaze claims that a critical shortage of IV bags in general followed an FDA ban on the mass production of intravenous vitamin C. The FDA limited the availability of IV-C and the pharmaceutical industry halted production of injectable vitamins and minerals, after a 60 minute story about the miraculous recovery of a swine flu patient on life support. Because of the shortage of IV-C, doctors called upon compounding pharmacies to produce it. But the FDA began to limit compounding pharmacies after injectable steroids produced by the New England Compounding Center were contaminated with a fungus that caused a deadly outbreak of meningitis. Here is an example of an entire industry being punished for the dubious practices of one compounding pharmacy.

Try and follow this convoluted story: Doctors began to source NECC for its more expensive product because cheaper generic versions were in short supply. But it was the FDA’s increased inspection of drug factories that disrupted the supply chain in the first place. So the meningitis deaths were in part caused by the onerous actions of the FDA.

Natural Blaze reports, “… without anyone noticing, and by many indirect means of banning production of the bags or shutting down those doing the production of the bags and the injectable vitamins and minerals, access to IV solutions for innumerable treatments for diseases, have gone into critical shortage.”

Vitamin C and the Big C

Could the shortage of IV-C be part of an effort to limit alternative cancer therapies?

DrWhitaker.com states, “… vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that has the power to boost immune function, increase resistance to infection, and protect against a wide range of diseases. But there’s an entirely different and largely unknown role of vitamin C, and that is its ability—when administered in very high doses by intravenous (IV) infusions—to kill cancer cells. … Best of all—and unlike virtually all conventional chemotherapy drugs that destroy cancer cells—it is selectively toxic. No matter how high the concentration, vitamin C does not harm healthy cells.”

Dr. Whitaker continues:

“The only way to get blood levels of vitamin C to the concentrations required to kill cancer cells is to administer it intravenously. … For example, 10 g of IV vitamin C raises blood levels 25 times higher than the same dose taken orally, and this increases up to 70-fold as doses get larger.”

Choose health, choose life

When the human body is challenged by pathogens or needs to heal from injuries or surgery, its requirement for vitamin C increases considerably. If hospitals routinely administered intravenous ascorbic acid, a proven and inexpensive treatment, patient outcomes would improve. When one weighs the risk of infection from deadly superbugs in hospitals today, IV vitamin C as a preventative safeguard makes all the more sense.

To learn how to secure IV-C in advance of a hospital stay for yourself or a family member, check out this very useful advice at DoctorYourself.com. You will learn how to deal with objections from physicians and hospital administrators regarding this “alt-health” remedy. It will require some moxie, but doing so may save a life.

Supporters of Obamacare believe that access to affordable healthcare is the most  important consideration. But of even greater concern should be the ability to choose your own treatment modality, such as IV-C. In other words, medical freedom of choice trumps universal access. Many of us involved in the health freedom movement are outraged by the disregard for our natural rights by unelected federal bureaucracies such as the FDA. We hope for a day when a critical mass of aware citizens will hold their elected officials accountable to overturn toxic policies that favor Big Pharma’s obscene profits over our health and well-being. And that day is long overdue.

Why your survival medicine kit is not complete without Aloe Vera /nutrientsnews/2016-10-20-why-your-survival-medicine-kit-is-not-complete-without-aloe-vera.html /nutrientsnews/2016-10-20-why-your-survival-medicine-kit-is-not-complete-without-aloe-vera.html#respond Wed, 30 Nov -0001 00:00:00 +0000 http://162.244.66.231/nutrientsnews/2016-10-20-why-your-survival-medicine-kit-is-not-complete-without-aloe-vera Aloe Vera is a versatile plant in that it can help a wide range of issues. From the well-known burn cure, to digestive aids, Aloe is a must for any first aid and survival kit, with the added benefit of being an easy-to-care-for succulent that you can grow from home.

Aloe Vera has 10 natural substances that work with an anti-inflammatory purpose when used topically or taken internally. This is used for arthritis, joint health, and other injuries. As quoted in Textbook of Natural Medicine, Volume 1 by Joseph E Pizzorno and Michael T Murray, “Unlike many other anti-inflammatory substances, Aloe Vera has been shown to stimulate fibroblast and connective tissue formation, thereby promoting wound repair. Finally, aloe appears to stimulate the epidermal growth and repair process, presumably due to its polysaccharides.”

With the natural inclusion of aloin and emodin in its arsenal, Aloe Vera is nature’s own analgesic with antimicrobial and antiviral properties. There have been many studies done, with the first recorded instance being in 1935, looking at the effects of Aloe Vera on burns and injuries.  It was shown to provide accelerated relief of the itching and burning typically associated with skin regeneration.

Another use of Aloe is that of a mouth rinse. When used, it cleans the tongue, gums, refreshes breath and leaves teeth squeaky clean! With the antimicrobial properties, this can help prevent dental diseases when in situations away from traditional oral hygiene materials or running water.

As one of the most versatile plants available, Aloe can be used both topically and internally. As a digestive aid, it supports regularity and helps clear toxins from the body. Taken daily, it can be beneficial in easing digestive issues such as constipation and pain associated with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. It has also been proven useful at clearing skin from acne and accelerating the skin’s regrowth after burns. It improves collagen and hyaluronic acid production to promote healthy skin and healing.

There is also evidence that Aloe Vera may be useful in lowering cholesterol and maintaining healthy blood sugar levels in diabetics, though the research is still ongoing. This has not been proven as undeniable, though the outlook of the study results is suggesting a positive outcome.

With over 200 active compounds including calcium, sodium, iron, potassium, magnesium, vitamins A, B, C, E, Folic and more, daily intake of Aloe Vera is beneficial to everyday health and an absolute must in any survival medicine kit.
